One of my PHP slave friend (” Hidayet Dogan - simply Hido “) released some useful PHP scripts that may help.

According to news on his site:

Phurl version 1.4 released. Fixed some non-critical issues and url creation method has been re-written.
phpThumbnailer 1.6 has been released. It comes with PHP 5 compatibility fixes and some improvements.
